RE:      CALL FOR NOMINATIONS – PRESIDENT, VICE-PRESIDENT & TREASURER ELECTION

 

Dear Members,

In accordance with the Worksite 72 Constitution, Article 10, the position of President, Vice-President and Treasurer, are up for election and are to be filled by a member elected prior to the Annual General Meeting on March 18, 2026 by the membership of Worksite 72.

NOMINATIONS AND ELECTIONS PROCEDURE:

Nomination for President; vacant, 1-year term, from May 1, 2026-April 30, 2027

Nominations for Vice-President; 2-year term, from May 1, 2026-April 30, 2028

Nominations for Treasurer; 2-year term, from May 1, 2026-April 30, 2028

 

Please take note of the following procedures and deadlines:

All nominations and elections will be conducted in accordance with the Worksite 72 Constitution, Article 10, by the Nominations Committee.

Nominations for the position of President, Vice-President and Treasurer must be submitted using the appropriate nomination forms and include a resume. The forms can be obtained by contacting the Nominations Committee at worksite72@mymts.net.  Additional information, including a copy of the Worksite Constitution can also be provided upon request.

Completed nomination forms, along with the nominee’s resume, must be submitted to the Nominations Committee, attention; Mary Jane Monttierro, Nominations Committee Chair at worksite72@mymts.net,  or by leaving the completed forms in the MNU mailbox in the Staffing Office, no later than midnight on Monday, February 16, 2026. The Nominations Committee will prepare and verify a list of eligible candidates.

If no nominations are received by this date, nominations will be accepted from the floor of the Annual General Meeting on March 18, 2026.

If only one nomination is received, the candidate will be declared elected by acclamation, and no vote will be held.

If more than one nomination is received, the list of candidates and their resumes will be posted on the MNU Worksite 72 Boards and available for membership to review prior to voting.  An appropriate voting day will be selected of adequate hours to allow all members the opportunity to vote.  The time and date of this vote will be determined by the Worksite Executive Committee.   Nomination Forms and Resumes will be shared as submitted.

ELECTION PROCESS:

  • Members vote by secret ballot
  • The Nominations Committee, along with the Executive Committee, will be responsible for confirming membership and providing members a voting ballot.
  • Votes are counted manually by the Nominations Committee.  Results of the vote will be given to the Nominations Committee Chair.
  • Announcement of the successful candidate will occur at the Worksite’s Annual General Meeting by the Nominations Committee Chair.
  • In compliance with Robert’s Rules of Order, the successful candidate must receive a majority of the votes cast (more than half).  In cases of three or more candidates, the candidate receiving the least number of votes drops off the ballot and a new vote will be taken with the remaining candidates until a candidate receives a majority of the vote.
